Finland’s Super Cute “Moomin” Debuts in Taipei, Spreading Positive and Heartwarming Energy

A healing character from Finland that has gained worldwide fameThe “Moomin” special exhibition will open at the National Taiwan Science Education Center starting June 19, with a press conference on June 18 giving an exclusive preview of the three major exhibition zones. Moomin himself also appeared and danced energetically on-site.

Broad Art stated that this exhibition was planned to celebrate Moomin’s 70th anniversary this year. The venue faithfully recreates Moomin’s home and the adventurous, surprise-filled Moomin Valley landscape, complemented by eleven 1:1 life-sized plush figures scattered throughout, taking visitors into the world of Moomin. The exhibit also uses gauze screens instead of traditional partitions and creates an aurora effect with colorful lights. Additionally, the public can see the original black-and-white sketches of Moomin, created by Finland’s national treasure, Tove Jansson, presented as “Moomin life photos” for all to enjoy.

Zhu Nanxian, director of the National Taiwan Science Education Center, said that every element and line drawing in the Moomin special exhibition conveys a warm and relaxing atmosphere, allowing visitors to momentarily escape the fast-paced, hectic modern life and fully relax and rejuvenate their minds. The realistic and immersive scenes also make visitors feel as if they are in Northern Europe—not only do children love it, but adults can enjoy it as well.

Chu Huifen, the Taiwanese copyright agent from Medialink, also mentioned that Tove Jansson infused her works with desires for peace, friendship, family, and other emotions. She hopes that through Moomin’s healing charm, positive and heartwarming energy can be shared with every visitor.
