Following the opening of Taichung’s Liuchuan River in 2016, the upcoming “Liuchuan 2.0” green energy ecological river is set to be completed by the end of the year. The eight scenic bridges connecting the ecological river have become a major attraction for travel influencers. Among them, the pure white heart-shaped “Xichuan Bridge” has garnered the most attention—even before its official opening, it has already drawn many couples on pilgrimages.

The “Xichuan Bridge” is one of the eight scenic bridges in the Phase 13 Urban Redevelopment Area, located near Xichuan 1st Road in Taichung City. Its pure white, heart-shaped harp-like structure also resembles two white swans gazing at each other—extremely romantic. In addition to creating public art, the government emphasizes the cultural identity of the redevelopment area, which spans from southern Taichung to Nantun District.

In addition to Xichuan Bridge, the other seven bridges are Yuyin Bridge, Raoying Bridge, Wudie Bridge, Hefeng Bridge, Renben Bridge, Chonglun Bridge, and Fenglin Bridge. Each has a unique shape and symbolic meaning. For example, Yuyin Bridge is designed like a harp in the shape of a crown, symbolizing prosperity after the redevelopment; Wudie Bridge incorporates the element of an ox yoke in a bilateral design, resembling a butterfly spreading its wings when viewed from afar.

Although not yet completed, aerial photos taken from 60 meters above show a lush, 437-meter-long river with ample open space and eight scenic bridges. Once illuminated at night, its charm will surely rival that of Liuchuan.
