The beef noodle spot I’m introducing today, Huitianxiang Beef Noodles, has so many highlights—check out the first photo. Look at the size of those beef chunks—they’re huge!! The shop is committed to using no MSG—it’s all about doing business the honest way. The broth may not be as strongly flavored as some others out there, but it’s very healthy and won’t leave you thirsty after eating. Then there’s the golden cold noodle sauce, which doesn’t use a single drop of sesame paste—instead, it’s made from blended fruits and vegetables to create this golden-hued sauce that’s especially refreshing and not greasy at all. And the boss lady is a real beauty too!!! If you’re in Taichung, definitely give it a try!!!

First, let’s take a look at the Huitianxiang menu—the prices are pretty reasonable. With the exception of the beef noodles, which are over 100 NT, everything else can be enjoyed for just a few dozen NT.

The open, transparent kitchen is super clean, which makes diners feel more at ease. First up, I want to introduce the half-tendon-half-meat noodles, which aren’t actually on the menu but are super popular with foodies. The noodles used here are thin ones—if you’re bringing along your elders, don’t worry, they’ll be easy enough to chew.

The highlight of this bowl of beef tendon noodles is definitely that mouthwatering slab of beef—it’s really huge, and incredibly tender—as in, melt-in-your-mouth tender. Even the dad of our fun-loving streamer, who’s toothless, could eat it easily (though you do need to tell the shop in advance if it’s for an elderly person, so they can cook it softer).

Proof is in the picture!!! Isn’t it way bigger than a 50 NT coin? I’d say it’s at least three times the size.

In addition to the beef tendon noodles, the next bowl you see here—the half-tendon-half-meat noodles—is also selling well. Here, the beef shank and beef tendon are completely separated, offering different textures.

If you’re a fan of dry stir-fried noodles, you should try this bowl of beef dry noodles. Because it’s more health-focused, our fun-loving streamer feels the flavors here are a bit lighter, making them great for kids or older folks. If you prefer stronger flavors, just let the staff know, and they’ll whip up a special chili sauce for you that you’ll absolutely get hooked on.

Next up is another of their signature dishes—this golden fruit-and-vegetable sauce served with cold noodles, and it’s an absolutely perfect match!!!

I also think these pork floss dry noodles are great—the aroma of the pork floss is amazing, and when paired with bean sprouts and scallions, it’s super tasty.

If you prefer rice over noodles, no worries—just go for the pork floss rice. Right now, it even comes with a cola and some side dishes. The whole combo meal is only 65 NT. Coming here on a hot summer day, cooling off with air conditioning, and digging into a pork floss rice meal deal is such a great deal.

If you’re a side dish enthusiast, let me tell you the sides here are also pretty healthy—they don’t use any sketchy MSG or excessive artificial seasonings. But if you’re someone who likes strong flavors, you might want to bring your own soy paste. Though personally, I prefer the natural taste of the ingredients, and if you add too much soy paste, everything just tastes unbearably salty and loses its original flavor.

What attracts me to Huitianxiang Beef Noodles is how much the husband-and-wife owners pay attention to the little details. For example, the oil used to fry the cutlet is changed every single day. Take a look at the oil before the cutlet goes in for deep frying—it’s a beautiful golden color. Our fun-loving streamer did a random check and asked to see the kitchen, and it looked just like this.

The boss also has another specialty: hongshaorou rice (red braised pork rice). It’s loaded with toppings and made with reassuringly fresh ingredients—it’s definitely more reassuring and tastier than your average convenience store bento.

The boss lady was a campus beauty back in her school days. Even though she’s now a mom, her beauty hasn’t faded at all—she’s still a total beauty queen of a boss.

The first floor of the shop has the kitchen, so there aren’t many seats, but the second floor has plenty of spacious dining space, making it great for renting out for events or group meals.
