The Fireworks Festival Draws to a Close; Penghu Continues with Light Shows and Beach Races

The Penghu Maritime Fireworks Festival came to a dazzling close today (25th). To maintain the tourism momentum, the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration will host the “Penghu Light & Fireworks Show” starting from Valentine’s Day on August 20th, followed by the “2015 Penghu Bay Beach Run” on September 12th.

Zhang Longcheng, director of the Penghu Administration, stated that the highlight of the “2015 Penghu Bay Beach Run” is the chance to run along a 3.2-kilometer crescent-shaped golden beach, stretching across Yamen, Lintou, Jianshan, and Longmen. The event features categories including a 3K walk, a 6K competitive race, and a 12K challenge, alongside fun activities such as sand sculpture exhibitions and water sports performances. In the evening, the “Summer Starlight Music Concert” will follow, headlined by the group MP Magic Power.

The “Penghu Light & Fireworks Show” will take place on nine occasions starting from Valentine’s Day on August 20th. The showings and fireworks will be held on August 20th, 23rd, 29th, September 5th, 13th, 19th, 26th, and October 3rd at Guanyin Pavilion. Light shows start at 8:00 PM, followed by fireworks at 9:00 PM. On September 10th, the event will move to Qimei Island, with the light show and fireworks both beginning at 8:00 PM. The “2015 Penghu Beach Run” is limited to 1,000 participants island-wide, with registration closing on August 2nd. Registration fees are NT$400 for the 6K race and NT$600 for the 12K race (including chip fees). All participants who complete registration and payment will receive a commemorative runner’s T-shirt and gifts.

The Penghu Administration has partnered with Lion Travel to launch the “2015 Penghu Bay Golden Beach Run 3-Day Tour,” featuring seven self-guided and group tour packages priced between NT$6,300 and NT$9,500 per person. Among them, the Taipei-departing “Penghu Snorkel at Qimei + Surf & Swing Romantic 3-Day Tour” offers free entry to the “2015 Penghu Bay Beach Run” for those who register before the end of July for the September 11–12 departure. The other six group tours departing from northern, central, and southern Taiwan all include the beach run registration fee. Travelers who form a group of four and register with full payment before the end of July will also receive a discount of NT$1,000 to NT$2,000 for the fourth person.
