The Baozhen Park dust explosion has left many young people still fighting for their lives in hospitals,Considering the current social atmosphere is not suitable for holding large-scale festive events, the New Taipei City Government regrets to announce that the 16th “New Taipei City Gongliao International Marine Music Festival,” originally scheduled to take place from July 24 to 26, 2015, will be canceled. This is the first time the event has been canceled since its inception.

In addition, the list of the top ten finalist bands selected this year was announced on June 24. The participating bands have invested a great deal of time and effort into the competition. Therefore, the “Marine Indie Music Grand Prix” top ten finals will be held on a date to be determined by the city government, and relevant competition information will be announced separately.

The theme of this year’s Gongliao International Marine Music Festival is positioned as“Sea Festival THE ONE”, emphasizing the core spirit of the event, which is to unite Taiwan’s independent music creators. The originally scheduled event dates and themes were:
July 24 – “Taiwan Rock Formula”
July 25 – “Marine Indie Music Grand Prix”
July 26 – “World Rock Revelation”

The three-day event was originally expected to feature performances by nearly 30 musical groups.
