New Director Appointed at East Coast National Scenic Area Administration: Lin Xinren Aims to Internationalize Events

The East Coast National Scenic Area Administration under the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications held a handover ceremony for the new and former directors on the afternoon of the 3rd. Under the supervision of Tourism Bureau Director Xie Weijun, Deputy Director and Acting Director Lin Weiling handed over the official seal tonew Director Lin Xinren. The ceremony invited distinguished guests from various sectors and was successfully completed.

Since joining the civil service in 1994, Lin Xinren has served in various roles, from grassroots positions at the Ministry of Economic Affairs to the International Division of the Tourism Bureau and overseas posts, bringing extensive academic and professional experience. He has invited renowned production teams such as the U.S. Public Broadcasting Service’s Travel Scope, ABC’s The Bachelorette, CBS’s Amazing Race, and Fox Sports to Taiwan for filming. He also contributed to Taiwan’s Lantern Festival winning an Emmy Award.

Lin Xinren also stated that during his tenure as director, he hopes to adopt a collaborative international marketing approach, working with both domestic and international partners to internationalize the events organized by the East Coast Administration. He plans to package activities by incorporating local cultural features, tribal landscapes, ecological elements, and outdoor adventure and wellness tourism, establishing the East Coast as a high-end international travel destination. This aims to attract international tourists to visit Taiwan specifically for Hualien and Taitung, rather than just including them as stops on a round-the-island trip.
