The number of travelers visiting Japan is on the rise, and with Tokyo having secured the 2020 Olympic Games, the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry plans to introduce a "Service Quality Certification Mark" for service sectors including restaurants and hotels, aiming for implementation in the summer of 2016.
According to Japanese media reports, the "Service Quality Certification Mark" will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
1. Staff members with foreign language communication skills
2. Ability to process tax-free procedures
3. Provision of card payment services

Although other standards have not yet been announced, the "Service Quality Certification Mark" is set to be implemented in the summer of 2016. In the future, establishments with this mark will offer travelers greater confidence when patronizing them.
