Chiayi KANO Tourism Carnival Kicks Off – Shine Stars Baseball Team to Appear in August

Chiayi is the hometown of the baseball team “KANO” from Chiayi Agricultural School. To revive the glory of baseball, the Chiayi City Government launchedthe “2015 KANO Season Tourism Carnival”— a series of events with 22 planned activities integrating the world of baseball for public participation.

The “KANO Season Tourism Carnival 999 Baseball Charity Limited Collection” kicks off first on July 20, inviting the public to donate 999 baseballs to jointly create a KANO-themed installation art piece, leaving wonderful memories for fans and moviegoers. Other activities include:

Baseball Games:
On August 1, weekly baseball matches will feature the Shine Stars Baseball Team led by entertainer Pang Chia-chia competing against the Chiayi City Azalea Baseball Team; other events also include the Chi-Nong Cup Youth Baseball Invitational, Baseball Fun Camp, Holiday Cup Baseball Challenge, Chi-Nong Cup Adult Baseball Invitational, and Chi-Nong Cup Senior Championship.

Movies:
Open-air movie screenings will be held on August 1 and 2, featuring the films “KANO” and “For the Love of the Game.”

Interactive Activities:
A tourism expo and family fun fair, the KANO immersive interaction zone, a three-story, 10-meter-tall KANO blessing and energy zone, a baseball celebrities and memorabilia exhibition, the KANO International Photography Contest and Children’s Painting Competition will also be presented at the event site. On August 23, there will also be a KANO Music Concert — music lovers shouldn’t miss it.

For those looking to explore other parts of Chiayi, options include taking the Alishan Forest Railway train, the Yunlin-Chiayi Happiness Bus, or light travel tour packages offered by various travel agencies. In August, the “Free Bus Ride” campaign will officially launch — from August 1 to August 31, 2015, simply present an electronic ticket to ride city buses and Chiayi County Bus Office intercity buses for free, allowing you to explore all corners of Chiayi with ease.
