With its industrial vintage decor and expansive, bright floor-to-ceiling windows, even though it's located at the front of Zhonghua Road and a short distance from Ximending, Sunny Cafe still attracts many customers—especially travelers staying in Ximending who make a special trip here for breakfast. Additionally, the owner of Sunny Cafe is a graceful beauty who bears a slight resemblance to supermodel Lin Chi-ling, earning her the online“wild Lin Chi-ling”nickname.
Sunny Cafe is named after the owner’s English name. “Sunny” reflects the reason she opened this cafe: there’s a hotel upstairs run by her husband’s family, and many travelers in Taiwan complained that there weren’t any comfortable cafes nearby where they could relax. This gave her the idea to open a cafe. Coincidentally, the audio equipment store that originally occupied the space downstairs had just moved out, so she leased the spot and opened Sunny Cafe.

Regarding the design of Sunny Cafe, Sunny decided from the start to go with an industrial vintage style. She said it has been very popular in recent years and that she personally loves it. In addition, before getting married, she worked as a flight attendant and traveled around the world, often seeing unique styles not commonly found in Taiwan. Therefore, in addition to the industrial style, Sunny Cafe also features a large expanse of bright floor-to-ceiling windows, avoiding a heavy atmosphere. Sunny said the initial design and renovation cost NT$5 million, not including furniture and kitchen equipment. After opening, people even brought designers to see the place, saying they wanted exactly this style.

Sunny said the two standout features of the cafe are the large expanse of bright floor-to-ceiling windows and a white grand piano. The piano was custom-made, and a bar counter was designed next to it. Many guests say having breakfast while sitting next to the piano is a truly rare experience.
As for the cafe’s popular menu items, they include the Hawaiian pizza, the American countryside burger, and the smoked chicken panini. Sunny explained that the Hawaiian pizza is sized perfectly for one person at 6 inches, with ingredients like pineapple, pan-fried bacon, chef-made tomato sauce, and plenty of cheese, offering a rich taste. The American countryside burger uses a pork patty, making it suitable for many who don’t eat beef, and most importantly, the honey mustard sauce drizzled inside is homemade—it’s the signature item at Sunny Cafe. The smoked chicken panini is especially favored by breakfast-goers; the smoked chicken is less greasy, the bread is pan-fried before baking, then layered with smoked chicken and onions, and finally topped with honey mustard sauce.

Sunny also mentioned that when she first opened Sunny Cafe, it wasn’t expected to do well, but now it’s quite successful and attracts many customers. Moreover, because her husband is into motorcycles, word of mouth has made Sunny Cafe a gathering spot for many motorbike enthusiasts.
