Hong Kong to Host Its First “Bike Festival” in October – Ride Across the Tsing Ma Bridge

Attention urban cycling enthusiasts！The Hong Kong Tourism Board will hold the “Hong Kong Bike Festival” on October 10 and 11 this year (2015), combining cycling events with a carnival atmosphere. The Tsing Ma Bridge will open to the event for the first time ever, offering riders stunning views of landmarks such as the International Commerce Centre (ICC) along the route.

Dr. Allan Zeman, Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, said, “Through organizing this major sporting event, the HKTB also hopes to attract more international media coverage and boost exposure for Hong Kong.” Xu Weini, Director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board’s Taiwan Office, added, “By holding the inaugural ‘Hong Kong Bike Festival’ in October, we hope to show travelers that besides its cuisine and attractions, Hong Kong also offers many exciting events not to be missed.” To allow visitors to take part, several travel agencies have launched special tour packages that include participation in the event as well as opportunities to explore Hong Kong’s hidden cycling gems.

Bike Film “Breaking Wind” Filmed in Hong Kong – The youth-action movie “Breaking Wind,” starring Eddie Peng, Choi Si-won, Dou Xiao, Wang Luodan, and Ouyang Nana, was filmed on location in Hong Kong. Before shooting began, the crew trained on Hong Kong’s cycling paths, and filming took place at the Hong Kong Velodrome in Tseung Kwan O, as well as locations including Lung Wo Road and Ice House Street in Central. With the growing cycling trend and the film’s popularity, various travel agencies have also created unique tour packages around it.
