Typhoon Soudelor has struck Taiwan, causing damage to Taiwan Railways, which has announced the suspension of all train services on the Western Trunk Line (including all branch lines), Yilan Line, North-Link Line, and South-Link Line before 24:00 on August 8 (Saturday).

Taiwan Railways Administration has announced the train operation status before 24:00 on August 8 (Saturday): All trains on the Western Trunk Line (including all branch lines), Yilan Line, North-Link Line, and South-Link Line will be suspended; all trains on the Alishan Forest Railway will be completely suspended on August 8 and 9; the Huatung Line (between Hualien and Zhiben) and Pingtung Line (between Kaohsiung and Fangliao) will operate additional section trains flexibly based on weather conditions; other sections will resume section train services as repair work progresses.

Latest update at 7:00 p.m.:

1. The route, overhead lines, and equipment between Zhunan (Coastal Line) and Changhua have been inspected and train service will resume starting with Train No. 2537 (departing from Tongxiao at 16:46).
2. Diesel multiple unit (non-electrified) section trains between Kaohsiung and Fangliao (excluding electric trains): Downbound services will resume starting with Train No. 3531 (departing from Kaohsiung at 17:17), and upbound services will resume starting with Train No. 3534 (departing from Fangliao at 17:08).
3. Section trains between Keelung and Taoyuan will resume from 19:00, with downbound services starting with Train No. 1271A (departing from Keelung at 19:00) and upbound services starting with Train No. 1288A (departing from Shu Diao at 19:00), operating according to the current timetable.
