The originally scheduled Taipei “Dadaocheng Music Valentine’s Day” event on August 15 will now be postponed, the Taipei City Government’s Department of Information and Tourism stated that due to the impact of Typhoon Soudelor and recent heavy rainfall, the Dadaocheng Wharf has accumulated a large amount of silt, and the site has not been cleared in time. Therefore, the decision has been made to postpone the event, though the new date has not yet been determined.

The Taipei City Department of Information and Tourism explained that after Typhoon Soudelor, the surrounding area of Dadaocheng Wharf suffered from severe silt accumulation. After rainfall, the muddy conditions reached almost up to the calves. Although the Taipei City Water Department and other agencies have mobilized personnel and contractors to continue cleaning, continuous afternoon thunderstorms in recent days have affected the progress of site restoration, and the dredging work has not gone as smoothly as expected.

After an on-site inspection and careful assessment, and considering that weather forecasts predict continuous afternoon heavy rain and showers until next Tuesday, the progress of site restoration may be affected. Out of concern for participant safety and worries about people accidentally stepping into the mud, the event “Dadaocheng Music Valentine’s Day” has been postponed based on safety considerations and the status of site recovery. The new date will be announced separately.
