Stargazing & Crab Feasting: Li Xiu-yuan & Zhang Yueli’s Singapore–Indonesia Twin-Island Getaway

Traveling abroad is a great choice for many to unwind. Recently, Singapore and Indonesia jointly launched a luxury island-hopping tour. Renowned TV travel host Li Xiu-yuan was invited to be the first to experience it, and she also brought along her entertainment industry friend Zhang Yueli for a five-day, four-night twin-island adventure.

The duo traveled from Singapore to Bintan Island in Indonesia. Unlike the typical Singapore–Sentosa Island packages promoted by Taiwanese travel agencies, Li Xiu-yuan said: “We stayed at a brand-new resort that cost over NT$10,000 per night, enjoying a private beach—very secluded and relaxing. We traveled by ferry and party boats, and feasted on huge Sri Lankan crabs that were bigger than our faces. It was super satisfying.”

Zhang Yueli described the trip as a daily “chat fest.” Having been friends with Li Xiu-yuan for 20 years, the two spent five days together nonstop with endless topics to discuss. Zhang Yueli said: “I worked as a China Airlines flight attendant for four years and flew to Singapore countless times, but I come here at least once a year because the city-state changes a little every year and a lot every three years—there’s always something new to experience.”

Especially the high-end leisure resorts on Bintan Island, which feature standalone private villas and beaches. During the day, you can swim in the water with sea and sky blending into one—gorgeous views. At night, you stargaze and have barbecues under a star-studded sky with zero light pollution. Zhang Yueli joked: “That’s why I left my daughter in the U.S., returned from LA to Taiwan, and settled down. Aside from hosting events for charity organizations, I also had fun exploring with our tour guide Xiu-yuan. Good sisters enjoying the golden girls’ life together.”
