The Curious Case of Gluttonous Ghost Yunyun’s Hotel Adventure: Someone Was Calling Her Name in the Middle of the Night!

With Ghost Month upon us, it’s wise to do some research when choosing a hotel while traveling to avoid ending up in a “special” place.Renowned blogger Gluttonous Ghost Yunyunshared two stories based on her own lodging experiences — one from her personal encounter and another heard from a friend:

Story One.
Once, she stayed in a dimly lit guesthouse with well-known blogger Devil Zhen, and she felt there was something ghostly about the place. Yunyun heard someone knocking next door and calling her name, “Yunyun~ Yunyun~.” She immediately messaged Devil Zhen on Line: “K8? Did you call me? Was that knocking or what?” But Devil Zhen said no...

Story Two.
A friend staying at a hotel in Thailand heard a “whooshing” sound inside the room, similar to air coming from an air vent. Thinking it might be a broken vent, she turned off the TV to listen closely—and indeed, the “whooshing” was still there. Later, when she turned the TV back on, it suddenly switched to a Thai channel on its own, and the “whooshing” sound disappeared!

But whenever she switched to other channels, the “whooshing” sound would return. Switching back to the Thai channel made it go away again. The friend consoled herself, thinking maybe the ghost was a Thai ghost who wanted to watch Thai channels. Since she’s Singaporean and usually watches English channels, she ended up sleeping with the Thai TV channel on that night.

Sometimes when traveling, you might encounter unexplainable situations while staying overnight. In fact, whether you’re staying in hotels domestically or internationally, there are some basic precautions to keep in mind.
