Following the Seven Stars in Kyushu, JR Kyushu’s luxury tourist train “OUI580” began service on August 8. The two carriages feature distinctly different classical European and Japanese retro styles. Although many may not be able to ride it in person, take a look at the photos to get a sense of the luxury of “OUI580.”

The Kyushu dessert train “OUI580” was also designed by Eiji Mitooka, but this time it was inspired by the “OUI580” model created by Shintaro Hara and supervised by Kenji Hara, former deputy director of the Railway Museum. It recreates the splendor of a luxury train from a century ago. Between August 8 and October 12, the Kyushu dessert train “OUI580” runs one round trip daily between Oita Station and Hitoyoshi Station. After autumn, it will operate between Sasebo Station and Nagasaki Station. The base fare is 20,000 yen per person for a one-way trip, but as the seats are designed for either 2 or 4 passengers, a single seat for 2 people costs 30,000 yen if booked by just one person.
