Dengue Fever Outbreak in Tainan: Hotels Prepare Mosquito Repellent for Guests

Dengue Fever Outbreak Spreads ! The Tainan City Dengue Fever Epidemic Command Center reported that as of the 27th, there have been a total of 2,574 cases, with 193 new cases added yesterday. In urban Tainan, district offices can be seen spraying disinfectant, while roadways host dengue fever awareness personnel reminding the public to be cautious of mosquito bites. Mosquito repellent has also been placed at multiple tourist spots for visitors’ use.

The dengue fever outbreak in Tainan is affecting travel conditions. Local homestay operators mentioned that they have indeed received inquiries from tourists recently, but less than 10% of guests have cancelled. Song Jiancheng, an instructor at Tainan’s renowned tourist spot, the Sword Lion Academy, stated that in response to the dengue fever situation, the classroom provides mosquito repellent for guests, but since mid-August to mid-September is the off-season for tourism in Tainan City, the impact has been minimal so far.

Chen Xuanzhu, General Manager of Tainan Chengyi Light Hotel, said that the hotel provides mosquito repellent for guests and cooperates with the government and related units in disinfection efforts. Currently, when walking around Tainan, one can see student volunteers in vests promoting dengue disinfection statuses, with disinfection schedules posted in various areas, as well as district office personnel conducting disinfection. Travelers planning to visit Tainan are reminded to take proper anti-mosquito measures and wear long-sleeved clothing to prevent the spread of the epidemic.
