Portugal’s “Flower Festival”! A Sea of Flowers Created by 7,500 Residents by Hand

When visiting southern Europe’s Portugal in summer, don’t miss the Flower’s Festival in Alentejo, located in the central-southern part of the country. You’ll be amazed to learn that the petals for this festival are meticulously crafted by many volunteers.

According to the UK’s Daily Mail, Campo Maior in Alentejo is the location of the Flower Festival. It resembles a massive sea of flowers, with each display featuring unique floral designs. These paper flowers are all handmade, with 7,500 volunteers involved—almost every household in the community pitched in—using around 30 tons of materials.

Visitors can stroll through the streets and alleys, immersing themselves among the flowers. The event runs only until August 30th.
