1.  Sushi Dai

When talking about Tsukiji Market, you can’t leave out “Sushi Dai.” Loved by both domestic and international visitors, Sushi Dai always draws long queues no matter when you go. On weekdays, the average wait time is around 3 hours, while weekends can stretch up to 4 or 5 hours. Despite this, many food enthusiasts still line up before dawn just to enjoy a meal here.

The most recommended set at the restaurant is the “Omakase Set,” which includes 11 pieces of sushi, featuring hand rolls, tamagoyaki (Japanese omelet), tuna belly sushi, and more, all thoughtfully arranged. The final piece lets customers choose their preferred topping. Paired with miso soup, the set costs 4,000 yen.

2.  Senri-ken

Stepping into Senri-ken immediately immerses you in a nostalgic atmosphere. Now in its third generation of management, the restaurant’s most popular dish is the “Special Set,” which comes with toast, salad, cream stew with a half-boiled egg, and coffee (or tea as an alternative). The toast can be swapped for a sandwich for an additional charge.

Beyond the food, the restaurant also preserves many vintage items such as retro-style coffee thermoses and a chalkboard that records previous regulars’ bills. The compact space radiates a cozy, homely dining vibe.

3. Katou (KATOU)

Specializing in Japanese cuisine, “Katou” is a must for seafood lovers. Known primarily for its simmered fish dishes, it also offers sashimi and grilled fish. The Boiled Fish Teishoku is the restaurant’s most recommended and popular menu item. Some even say it rivals the quality of Ginza’s ryotei (traditional high-end Japanese restaurants). Tender fish paired with rich, aromatic broth makes it a favorite among seafood aficionados.
