This No. 313 goose meat stall was recommended by HowToTrip user claire. It’s said to be quite a well-known spot around Shipai. Goose meat appeals more to old K than chicken or duck, so whenever there’s delicious goose meat, old K is usually the first to try it.

The shop is located on Mingde Road, right across from Zhuxing Hospital.

It’s your typical casual eatery setup. They open at 10:30 AM, so old K arrived around 11:00 AM and there weren’t many customers yet.

There had been talk before about them switching to selling chicken due to a goose meat shortage, so old K went in hoping maybe they’d started selling goose again – but of course, they were only selling chicken XD. He simply ordered a plate of chicken, a bowl of dry flat noodles, and a bowl of bamboo shoot soup.

Here comes the food! The chicken skin is really thick!Just the way old K likes it!

Chicken (per portion, 120 TWD)
Let’s dig into the chicken first. Old K had the chicken leg part — the skin has a nice Q texture and bounce, feels full of collagen! So oily and rich! The meat itself has a firm yet tender bite, and the saltiness is just right on its own – super tasty! It reminds old K a lot of the salted q chicken he’s had before.

Dip it in their special chili soy sauce, and it really brings out the umami and sweetness of the chicken. The piece old K got was from the very end of the chicken leg bone, with some chewy tendon – his absolute favorite.

At first, old K thought it was all chicken leg, but actually there were only four or five pieces; the rest were chicken breast XD

Old K isn’t a huge fan of chicken breast, but here it was still pretty tender, just a little bit dry. Still, chicken leg is his top pick XD

Dry Flat Noodles (35 TWD)
The dry flat noodles here are just seasoned with lard and soy sauce, with a simple sprinkle of fried shallots, so it’s got that strong old-school flavor! The noodles themselves are Q-textured, like the Meinong-style flat noodles – a pretty tasty dry noodle dish. But there’s quite a bit of lard, so it’s a little greasy. Luckily old K had the bamboo shoot soup to balance it out XD

Braised Pork Rice (small, 25 TWD)
Just eating noodles wouldn’t be enough, so old K added a small bowl of braised pork rice. The braised pork here is mostly fat, and cut into big chunks – you can tell it was made especially for old K XD. Although it’s mostly fat, the braising sauce is relatively light, though not too salty and a bit sweet, which old K didn’t prefer as much.

Bamboo Shoot Soup (35 TWD)
This bowl of soup is quite a good deal – it has bamboo shoots and two meatballs. The broth is a clear bone stock with a strong bamboo shoot flavor, and it’s refreshing. Pairs perfectly with the dry flat noodles or braised pork rice.

old K’s little tip: Even though he didn’t get to try the goose meat, the chicken was still pretty good – just a bit pricier. Compared to the braised pork rice and dry noodles, the chicken suited old K’s taste better.
If there’s goose meat, old K would definitely come back to try it.
