Taxis on the road are everywhere, but have you ever seen a taxi on the sea? To further enliven existing water activities along the Love River and step up the promotion of attractions north of Jianguo Bridge, such as the Love River waters, Zhongdu Wetland Park, Vision Bridge, and Hakka culture, the Kaohsiung City Government Tourism Bureau has launched a new form of Love River tourism on September 1. Among its highlights is Taiwan’s first-ever “

water taxi,” which offers a buy-one-get-one-free deal during its maiden voyage period, aiming to attract more visitors to enjoy the scenic views of the Love River by boat.The “water taxi” is modeled after and redesigned from the iconic Venetian gondola, with a capacity of 20 seats. It will depart from the Love River’s famous landmark “Ao Yue Long Xiang” and take passengers on a scenic river tour. Currently, three stops are planned along the route:

Aolong Station,Vision Bridge Station, andHakka Cultural Museum Station. Passengers can get on and off at any of these stops. In the first phase, the trial run will be between “Aolong Station” and “Vision Bridge Station,” with a one-way trip taking about one hour. Upon arrival, visitors can choose the humanities and aesthetics route to visit art galleries or opt for an ecological journey to relax at Zhongdu Wetland Park, offering a diverse travel experience.Kaohsiung City Tourism Bureau Director Hsu Chuan-sheng said the “water taxi” can be booked by phone or purchased on-site. He hopes visitors to Kaohsiung will take advantage of this service to experience the different charms of the harbor city’s Love River from Wufu Bridge to the Hakka Cultural Museum, enjoying a light urban getaway.
