Every room has a slide — Tainan’s Weile Parent-Child Homestay

Weile Parent-Child Homestay is a newly opened family-friendly accommodation in August 2015, located in Anping District, Tainan, close to the city center. The name “Weile” is a homophone of “We Love.” It's aparent-child homestay featuring a carousel, Barbie-themed room, block room, and slides — every room has a slide, allowing children to have a great time.

Owner Vita said the reason she wanted to run a homestay mainly stemmed from having her own kids. Drawing from her own experience staying at other accommodations, she designed the space from her perspective as a parent, focusing on themes that children love. She personally came up with the concepts and worked with a carpenter she knew to bring them to life.

The birth of Weile is very much related to her daughter. Vita said: “We bought the land and built the place ourselves. We purchased this plot right after having our daughter, and we got the usage permit on her birthday, so this house is very connected to our daughter.” In addition to Weile Parent-Child Homestay, there is also another homestay called Tongzhuang, which is designed with their son in mind, mainly featuring a block room theme. The block room type also appears in Weile and was actually the first concept they came up with.

To ensure sufficient natural light in every room, Weile installed an atrium on the first floor, bringing in daylight and decorated with oversized blocks. Vita said the blocks are made of foam for safety.

The first floor serves as a common area and features a giant pink high-heel-shaped slide. In one corner, there is a cassia seed sandpit area, set indoors so parents can chat while keeping an eye on their kids. There is also a play kitchen area and toy tool sets.

Vita said the use of cassia seeds was based on a friend’s suggestion. Most parent-child restaurants in central and northern Taiwan usually offer seashells or fine, sticky sand that’s hard to clean. Cassia seeds are larger and can be easily shaken off.

The interior design of the rooms is mostly handcrafted in woodwork, with playful walls. There are three room types:

Danish Block Parent-Child Room
The theme is large blocks, featuring a slide. The room accommodates 2 adults and 1 child, with bunk beds — the lower bed is a double extra-large size.

Pink Barbie Parent-Child 4-Person Room
The theme is a pink little castle princess room. The beds are also bunk style, including a double extra-large bed and a standard bed, plus a slide. There are also princess costumes to wear, with wall stickers or doodles, and the room includes a bathtub.

Carousel Parent-Child 4-Person Room
The theme is a carousel. The room has a carousel play area where kids can sit on the merry-go-round and it will spin, accompanied by music. Kids can also slide down the adjacent slide, which leads into a small ball pit. The walls are decorated with carousel doodles, and there is also a play kitchen toy area.

As a parent-child homestay, furniture and equipment are also designed with safety in mind, such as wooden doors,safety nets on stairsto prevent children from falling and getting hurt while playing, and safety plugs in electrical outlets to avoid electric shock risks. There are also child-sized toilet seats. In the carousel and pink Barbie rooms, ceiling fans are additionally installed — guests are advised to adjust them to specific angles for better ventilation and comfort.

In terms of cleanliness, Vita places special emphasis on disinfection. Because it's a family-friendly accommodation, she pays extra attention to disinfecting toys, which are all replaced after each use. Even slippers are disinfected with spray immediately after guests leave. For bathing products, the homestay provides Chen Yi’an brandnatural, eco-friendly handmade soapVita said a blogger once asked how she could bear to use this brand, and she explained that she brings her own toiletries when traveling. For amenities, We Love also provides various parent-child supplies, such as electric cookers and bottle warmers.With an empathetic mindset, she believes in offering guests what she would use herself..
