Low-cost airlines are increasingly carving up the Japanese travel market, and with the depreciation of the Japanese yen, traveling to Japan has become easier than ever for an impromptu trip.Daily View’s Online Thermometer compiles a list of the Top 10 Japanese cities most loved by Taiwanese travelers, with Kyoto—voted by netizens worldwide as the “world’s best travel city”—ranking third. Which two cities do you think took the top spots?

When it comes to traveling in Japan, many people immediately think of cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Okinawa, which rank first through fourth in this ranking. Among them, Tokyo topped the list with nearly double the number of votes. Whether it's the Tokyo Skytree, Tokyo Tower, Asakusa with its giant Kaminarimon gate, or the fashion paradise of Shibuya, all are must-visit spots in Tokyo.

In addition to well-known cities among Taiwanese such as Fukuoka, Nara, and Sapporo, Karuizawa—not far from Tokyo—also made the list, ranking eighth with 2,662 votes. Karuizawa is not only a summer retreat but also boasts enchanting winter snowy landscapes. Surrounded by green mountains and waters, it also offers shopping fun at the Karuizawa Prince Shopping Plaza.
