Ensuring traveler accommodation safety: Tourism Bureau promotes "Accommodation Registration Number"

To safeguard travelers' accommodation safety, the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications is advancing the era of legal accommodation certification with the "Accommodation Number, Safe Check-in" initiative. For the first time, it has called on all legally operating accommodation providers across Taiwan to form the "Accommodation Certification Alliance," jointly urging consumers to develop the correct booking habits for safe stays.

To remind and educate consumers about choosing legal accommodations and the key points of proper booking, the Tourism Bureau has joined forces with legally operating accommodation providers nationwide to establish the "Accommodation Certification Alliance" and promote the use of accommodation registration numbers. The Tourism Bureau stated that starting now, all legal accommodations must prominently display their "Accommodation Number" on their official websites and in advertising materials. When choosing accommodations, consumers can verify the number before booking and check for the certification mark upon check-in. Taking the extra step to confirm the accommodation number before booking helps ensure a safer and higher-quality lodging experience.

To widely promote the concept of safe bookings at legal accommodations among students, the Tourism Bureau has also launched the "Certification Era – Campus Sponsorship Program" targeting the student population. This initiative collaborates with various student activities such as orientation events, club showcases, and departmental field trips, offering sponsorship funds for these events. All university clubs and departmental student groups across Taiwan are eligible to participate. Applications are open from now until October 31. By submitting creative promotional ideas that support legal accommodations on the program’s website, as well as promoting information about legal accommodations on campus and social media, student groups have the chance to win sponsorship grants of up to NT$10,000.
