This newly opened shop in Tainan has already become a hot topic on Instagram. With its cute Japanese-style storefront, even the name “Mooxi Mooxi” is in Japanese. When you think of Japan, matcha naturally comes to mind. This shop uses high-grade Uji Yamashitaen matcha, which ranks among the top in matcha quality and is also the owner’s recommendation. Its gradient color is so beautiful you won’t want to stir it. The fresh milk used is premium Xiaonong Fresh Milk from Fresh Milk Workshop (including Jiaming Fresh Milk and Fengle Fresh Milk), which costs 50% more than regular milk. The rich milk flavor brings out the subtle aroma of matcha, along with a sweet aftertaste of tea, and when paired with soft, chewy caramelized pearls and whipped cream, it adds even more layers of flavor.

Aside from the pun and dairy-related reasons for the name, there’s also a special historical story. Becausethe shop is located near what was historically known as “Niumo Hou” (Ox Grinding Area) during the late Qing and early Japanese colonial period—a place where oxen used to grind sugar, serving as the main hub for supplying desserts to the city of Fucheng—the “moo” represents “ox,” and “xi” stands for “light.” It symbolizes the ox seeing the light again, which also ties in nicely with the shop’s focus on making desserts and drinks. The owner hopes that visitors who come to taste the treats will learn more about this land and the history of Fucheng through their experience.

The black sugar pearl latte is also a popular recommendation on Instagram. The owner doesn’t cut corners on ingredients, using the well-known “Tainan Guanshan” black sugar, which costs four times more than regular black sugar. After going through Mooxi’s R&D team’s special process, the aroma of the black sugar becomes even richer. It’s said you can smell the strong black sugar fragrance right at the entrance. The shop spares no expense to ensure every cup is delicious.

Another fan favorite is the “Japanese Shizuoka Roasted Tea Latte.” The roasted tea is heavily baked, then ground into fine powder, brewed on-site, and mixed with a whole bottle of Xiaonong fresh milk for an ultra-rich smoky aroma. The owner insists on using a full bottle of fresh milk per cup—no cutting corners—and the result is a drink full of bold, satisfying flavor.

The chubby cup design has won over many girls. In addition to drinks, there are also desserts, such as matcha dumplings that you’d only find in Japan—you can enjoy them here without leaving Taiwan. The bursting matcha filling paired with smooth red beans brings instant happiness. There’s also a cheese thread snack to satisfy cravings and cut through richness, available in original flavor and a special matcha version. The owner adheres to the Japanese artisan spirit, striving to create high-quality drinks, desserts, and snacks. The Mooxi Mooxi team carefully develops each drink and selects ingredients with precision, so prices are slightly higher—but everyone who’s tried them says it’s worth it.
