The card-type Taiwan Compatriot Permit is about to be fully launched, making future travel to and from Mainland China more convenient Up！ To improve convenience for Taiwanese people traveling to Mainland China, the Public Security Bureau of Mainland China announced on the 15th that it will begin accepting applications for the card-type Taiwan Compatriot Permit on September 21. The previous paper version will stop being issued on the same day, but those still valid can continue to be used, and holders may also choose to apply for a replacement.

To make travel to and from Mainland China more convenient for the public, the Public Security Bureau of Mainland China has decided to fully launch the 2015 version of the Taiwan Compatriot Permit for travel to Mainland China (referred to as the card-type Taiwan Compatriot Permit). In addition to improving the efficiency of issuance and review, the new version also enhances anti-counterfeiting features.Starting September 21, Taiwanese people residing in Mainland China can apply for a replacement or renewal of the 5-year valid card-type Taiwan Compatriot Permit at local entry-exit administration departments of public security organs at or above the county level.

Holders of the card-type Taiwan Compatriot Permit can apply for self-service clearance information registration with border inspection authorities to use the self-service channel. Those who have already registered and are replacing their permit with the card-type version can also continue using the self-service channel. Those who have not yet applied can choose to apply for a single-entry valid Taiwan Compatriot Permit at the service window. Compared to the previous paper version, the new card-type Taiwan Compatriot Permit has already seen 204,000 issuances, an increase of approximately 20.5%.
