Design plans for Seibu Railway's 40000 series train unveiled; debut scheduled for spring 2017

Seibu Railway, which has friendly ties with Taiwan Railways, released three photos of its latest 40000 series train model around 10 a.m. on the 23rd. This isn’t just a new train model—it’s also a “new type of commuter vehicle”—and is set to make its official debut in spring 2017. Its exterior design is themed around theimagery of “green mountains and blue skies”.

After the photos were posted on the fan page, netizens commented below: “The train color looks so comfortable—good luck making your debut; Japanese trains are beautiful, modern, and always leading the trend... even the retired ones are hard to bear seeing go. ; So beautiful.”

About Seibu Railway
It became sister railways with Taiwan Railways in March 2015. Established in 1912, Seibu Railway spans 176.6 kilometers and features well-known tourist attractions along its route such as Yoyama Shibazakura Park, Hododani Camellia Garden, Lake Chichibu, and Chichibu Shrine.
