It's time to get back to work and school after the holiday break. The National Freeway Bureau has announced eight “northbound congested freeway sections” on the 28th.

Typhoon Dujuan, a mid-level typhoon, disrupted the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, and intermittent rainfall also dampened travelers' enthusiasm. The National Freeway Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications pointed out that there will be a wave of northbound traffic on the afternoon of the 27th. Routes such as National Freeway 1 from Kaohsiung to the Dingjin System and National Freeway 5 from Toucheng to Pinglin are among the easily congested sections. At the same time, they have provided information on the more congested northbound national freeway sections expected on the 28th as the holiday ends.

The National Freeway Bureau also estimates that the eight most likely congested northbound freeway sections on the 28th as people return to work will involve three freeways and eight specific segments:
1. National Freeway 1 from Zhubei to Yangmei, Houli to the Tai’an Service Area, and Xiluo to Yuanlin
2. National Freeway 3 from Daxi to the Yingge System, Zhunan to the West Coast Expressway, the Qingshui Service Area to Dajia, and Gukeng to Mianjian
3. National Freeway 5 from Toucheng to Nangang

As of 11:00 am on the 27th, apart from congestion on National Freeway 1’s southbound section from Hukou to the Hukou Service Area, the northbound Taipei metropolitan area, and the Xizhi to Wudu section, as well as heavy traffic on National Freeway 3’s southbound Uru to Wufeng section, other sections are generally smooth. North-south travel times between Taipei and Kaohsiung can both be maintained within four hours. Meanwhile, the estimated traffic volume for the 27th has been revised downward to 1.9 to 2.2 million vehicle trips.
