Typhoon Dujuan Approaches: All Scenic Spots and Forest Recreation Areas Closed for Maintenance

As powerful Typhoon Dujuan approaches, the Central Weather Bureau issued a land typhoon warning at 5:30 PM on the 27th. For the safety of travelers, 10 out of 13 national scenic areas under the jurisdiction of the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications have been preemptively closed, and some national forest recreation areas are also shut down. Travelers are advised to stay informed.

The following national scenic areas across Taiwan have been preemptively closed:

1. Northeast Coast National Scenic Area — preemptively closed spots: Fulong Beach, Longdong Bay Diving Service Area, Longdong Four Seasons Bay, and Hong Kong-Macao Coastal Recreation Area, totaling 4 locations.

2. East Coast National Scenic Area — preemptively closed spots: Green Island’s three snorkeling areas and Asahihotspring, totaling 4 locations.

3. North Guan National Scenic Area — preemptively closed spot: Yehliu Geopark, 1 location.

4. Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area: Shuishe Mountain Hiking Trail, 1 location.

The following national forest recreation areas across Taiwan are closed:

1. The Nantou Forest District Office announced that Aowanda Forest Recreation Area will be closed starting the morning of the 28th. The Tienchi Mountain Lodge, Nenggao Trail, and 14 hiking trails in various areas are also off-limits to visitors for the time being.

2. The Dongshi Forest District Office: Daxueshan, Baxianshan, Hehuanshan, and Wuling Forest Recreation Areas will be closed and their trails shut starting at 12:00 noon on September 28.

3. In response to the issuance of the land typhoon warning, the Xinzhu Forest District Office has immediately closed Dongyanshan and Guanwu National Forest Recreation Areas. Neidong, Manyueyuan, Wulai Forest Train, Lalashan Nature Reserve, and national trails remain closed as they continue rehabilitation from damage caused by Typhoon Soudelor.

4. The Luodong Forest District Office announced that starting the 28th, Taipingshan Forest Recreation Area and all its associated trails (Jiaoxi Horse-Riding Ancient Trail, Songluo Trail, Jiuliaoxi Nature Trail, Our Lady's Hiking Trail, Quantoumu Nature Trail, Xinliao Waterfall Trail, Chaoyang Trail, Su-Hua Ancient Trail – Danan’ao Crossing Section, Xindian Shitoushan Trail, Jingualiao Fish and Fern Trail) will all be closed.
