Sun Moon Lake Hides a Dreamy Campus! Red Brick Churches and Wooden Stairs Become Instagram Hotspots

It feels like stepping into a dreamy campus. The San Yu Christian College in Sun Moon Lake, Nantou, is tucked away in Yuchi by the lake—who would believe it’s actually a school!? Taiwan’s most beautiful school, if you love taking photos and checking in, this place is definitely your paradise for stunning shots!

San Yu Christian College is a Christian school located in Yuchi Township, Nantou County, Taiwan. It is also one of the over 5,000 educational institutions established worldwide by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. With the school motto of “Caring for Life, Integrity, Compassion, and Lifelong Learning,” it also runs the affiliated San Yu High School. During this two-day, one-night trip to Sun Moon Lake, we chose to stay overnight atSun Moon Lake Classic Hotel, and after checking out the next day, we headed straight to the nearby San Yu Christian College. I had seen online reviews about it and had always wanted to visit, but every time I came, it happened to be closed, so I had to turn back. This time, I was finally lucky enough to tour San Yu Christian College!

San Yu Christian College is located at No. 39, Qiongwen Lane, Yuchi Village, Yuchi Township, Yuchi. If you’re a visitor, you can’t drive into the campus. It’s recommended to park on either side of the entrance and then walk into the school.

San Yu Christian College Campus Visit Guidelines

Admission to San Yu Christian College requires a ticket—30 NTD per person as a cleaning fee. The price is reasonable, considering the user-pays principle XD. After purchasing the ticket, let’s head in for the tour right away—GO～Let’s go!

Let’s start our adventure from Zheru Boulevard!! Named in honor of the school’s Pastor Gao Zheru, the boulevard features rows of tall camphor trees lining the pedestrian path.

The Zheru Boulevard before us is truly spectacular. NANA held Little Qi’s little hand as they strolled leisurely forward.

There’s also a green pathway nearby where you can take some beautiful photos and create IG-worthy moments.

Looking to the other side—wow!!! It looks like a desktop wallpaper of a vast grassland. The endless meadow, along with a lawnmower, gives the illusion of wandering through the wilderness.

Arriving here instantly puts you in photo mode. The blue sky with white clouds, paired with the lush green meadow, even just sitting here quietly soaking it all in is incredibly relaxing and comforting.

Xiaowen’s photo mode is activated. Seeing the grassy field before us gives her renewed energy to take some pictures. NANA has to endure the pain of being bitten by little black flies and serves as her temporary model XD

There are inevitably more little black flies in the mountains. Friends who are afraid of mosquitoes should take precautions; otherwise, you might end up getting bitten like me—ugh!

Enjoy the cool comfort under the shade of green trees and feel the freedom and happiness of a slow life.

Of course, Little Qi and I took a selfie together—we both have big butts XD～

I have to say, Little Qi really is an internet beauty. No matter where she goes, she loves taking those stylized photos. Who does she take after? XD

After finishing at Zheru Boulevard, we continued on toward the church. Along the way, there are verses from the Psalms. NANA felt deeply moved upon seeing them. Actually, NANA is a Christian herself, so being here filled her with emotion.

The school features various architectural styles. The visitor center is a wooden building with a touch of Japanese style.

From the green tunnel, you can see the red brick church—isn’t it uniquely charming?

The church is designed with red brick architecture, full of exotic flair, as if stepping into a dreamlike church abroad.

Internet beauty Little Qi also wanted to take a more normal photo XD～

Viewing this beautiful building from different angles reminded me—of a future wedding chapel. I’d love to get married here too!

Standing in the church and looking around, everything is lush and green—it’s really so comforting.

The campus has many green trees and creatively shaped plantings.

It felt like we were treasure hunting on campus, constantly uncovering beautiful scenery. The campus is actually quite large, and it takes about an hour to explore it properly.

Fallen leaves covered the ground, creating a poetic and picturesque atmosphere.

The lush green grass made us want to run and play freely or simply lie down and gaze at the sky.

After walking around the campus, we finally arrived at the Banyan Tree Tunnel. The scene you see here is one of the popular spots often photographed by many photographers. Additionally, the latest IG-worthy wooden cabin and staircase are hidden just beside the Banyan Tree Tunnel.

The campus of Taiwan Adventist College is filled with lush green trees, making it feel like a hidden garden paradise.

Wow!! This administrative center is absolutely stunning!! The building features a wooden design, and if you walk to the back, there’s a set of wooden stairs that offer an even more spectacular view.

This is it—we finally found the IG-famous photo spot!!! The adorable Japanese-style building and the magnificent wooden staircase attract many visitors. No matter how you take the photo here, it always turns out great!!

Taiwan Adventist College is a peaceful and serene environment where you can even bring your dog for a walk (please clean up after your pet). However, there are quite a lot of biting midges here, so if you’re worried about getting bitten, try not to wear shorts or move too quickly—bring some mosquito repellent. If you have a chance to visit Sun Moon Lake, don’t miss this beautiful campus.
