After a one-month trial operation, the Rilakkuma Café officially opened on October 2. All seats are now available exclusively through online booking—telephone reservations will no longer be accepted. However, on-site waitlisting is also an option, though customers should be prepared for potentially long waits. In addition to six new Rilakkuma-shaped cakes, most menu items remain the same as during the trial period.
The owner of Rilakkuma Café, Chen Hongzhou, originally ran an interior design company. His wife, Molie, is a big fan of Rilakkuma, and during a loyalty event last April, she asked him if it would be possible to secure the Rilakkuma license and open a Rilakkuma-themed restaurant. Fortunately, a friend of his was connected to the Japanese licensing authority, and since he had also wanted to open a café, he began negotiating with the Japanese side. Compared to existing Rilakkuma cafés in Japan, Rilakkuma Café is the first officially licensed restaurant. Many of its products and dishes were independently developed and designed by the team. With a total of 78 seats, the restaurant will operate fully via online booking after its official launch.

As for the most popular items during the trial operation? Manager You noted that dishes clearly featuring Rilakkuma designs were the biggest hits, such as pork cutlet curry rice, chicken rice with white sauce, Rilakkuma pancakes, and cheesecake. Personally, he thinks the cupcakes are delicious, but they aren’t as popular as the aforementioned dishes.
Manager You stated that telephone reservations will no longer be accepted after the official opening. Customers who wish to make a reservation must do so online—either through the official Facebook page or via LINE@ (ID: @rilakkuma-cafe). Currently, all October slots are fully booked, with November reservations expected to open at the end of October.
