Kaiming Temple Pagoda
Kaiming Temple Pagoda is located in the square within Yang County’s urban area. The pagoda stands to the north of the former Kaiming Temple, hence its name. The temple had long been dilapidated and no longer exists, leaving only this pagoda.

The *Yang County Annals* record: “Kaiming Temple Pagoda: Built alongside the temple in the early Tang Dynasty.” The *Hanzhong Prefecture Annals* state: “Kaiming Temple: Located two hundred steps south of the county seat, it was a Buddhist monastery. Constructed during the Kaiyuan era (713–714 AD) of the Tang Dynasty, it was renovated in the first year of the Qingyuan era (1195 AD) of the Song Dynasty, and became a monastic complex in the 24th year of the Hongwu era (1391 AD) of the Ming Dynasty. It features a stupa with thirteen stories.”

The pagoda is a square-shaped, single-story, multi-eaved brick structure. The center of the northern face of the pagoda body has an arched doorway leading to a small square chamber, measuring 1.5 meters in both length and width, with a total height of about 3 meters. The pagoda has thirteen stories, with each level gradually decreasing in height and diameter from bottom to top. At the top is a hemispherical finial, an octagonal spire, and a decorative canopy. Starting from the second story, the pagoda body features a total of fifty-two Buddha niches and one hundred small square single-story stupas. Each niche houses a stone-carved Buddha statue, and every corner of the pagoda has a wind chime, though many are now missing. The pagoda is simple yet majestic, and it is the only ancient structure remaining in Yang County.

It is now a provincial-level key cultural relics protection unit.
