Yangon Central Park, also known as Mahabandoola Garden, is named after General Mahabandoola, a national hero who fought against British colonial rule. The Independence Monument in the center of the park stands 42.72 meters tall, like a sword piercing the sky, symbolizing the sacred inviolability of Myanmar's freedom and independence. It also tells the heroic story of General Mahabandoola’s sacrifice for Myanmar’s independence.
