Uhu Lake Ecotourism Area
The Uhu Lake Ecotourism Area is a gently flowing body of water covering 118 square kilometers created after the construction of the Yellow River Haibowan Water Control Project, stretching from north to south across Wuhai City. It encompasses scenic areas such as the Ulan Buh Desert, Wulan Nur Lake, Uhu Lake, Populus Euphratica Island, and Rabbit Island. In harmony with the Gande Mountain Ecological Civilization Scenic Area, together they present a magnificent view where water meets sand and mountains connect with lakes. The ecotourism area features undulating mountains and dense rivers and lakes, rich in natural resources, forming a unique landscape on both banks of the Yellow River that integrates lakes, islands, deserts, and wetlands. Here, blue skies and white clouds, birds in flight and fish swimming, clear waters and golden sands, and swaying reeds create a breathtaking scene that blends the delicate beauty of the southern water towns with the majestic vastness of the northern desert.

To build a high-end ecological leisure and resort tourism area in western Inner Mongolia centered around Yellow River culture, leveraging its vast spatial and scenic advantages, and to realize the vision of “touring, experiencing culture, conducting business, enjoying leisure, and residing” all at Uhu Lake, the scenic area will develop top-tier tourism, cultural, commercial, exhibition, entertainment, real estate, and waterfront leisure and resort facilities. Theme parks focusing on water-based entertainment, sports, performances, and leisure will be established, offering activities such as rafting, jet skiing, sailing, and deep-water diving. The scenery of the Yellow River will be integrated into the modern city, achieving a symbiotic coexistence between humans and nature, creating a landscape where the city floats on water and the river runs through the city—truly making Wuhai the pearl on the golden belt of the Yellow River.

The mighty river surges with boundless skies; the strong winds sweep the crimson clouds across the land. The rushing Yellow River carries the lofty aspirations of the people of Wuhai, while the tranquil Uhu Lake holds the green new city’s dream of livability.
