Thunder Bay is a sun-rich city with mostly sunny weather, making it the sunniest city in Eastern Canada and also a well-known tourist destination. The city’s most famous attraction is Fort William Historical Park, a Canadian historical site that was once the world’s largest fur trading post and is now one of the world’s largest reconstructed historic sites, attracting about 100,000 visitors annually. In addition, the Thunder Bay Museum, the Thunder Bay Art Gallery, and Kakabeka Falls are also must-visit spots. In 2003, Thunder Bay was named the “Cultural Capital of Canada,” representing a blend of diverse cultures, with the Finnish Hall, Scandinavian Villa, and Italian Cultural Centre being typical examples of foreign cultural influence.
