Birthplace of the People's Liberation Army Navy

I n t r o d u c t i o n      Officially opened on April 29, 1999, the memorial hall consists of two parts: the former site of the navy’s birthplace and the new building. The former site includes the naval birth and the Yangtze River Crossing Campaign Command Headquarters’ operations room, as well as the bedrooms and offices of military leaders Su Yu, Zhang Zhen, and Zhang Aiping. The main structure of the new building is novel and distinctive, resembling a warship, blending a strong modern feel with the thematic identity of a memorial. The exhibition hall uses high-tech and modern artistic techniques to present photographic materials depicting the navy’s birth and growth—“Established at Baima, Mighty Along the Seas, Marching Forward Bravely, Deep Bond Between Soldiers and Civilians.” It displays a wealth of artifacts including ships, cannons, aviation models, uniforms, training equipment, and wooden boats used in the Yangtze River Crossing, all presented with rich content, illustrations, and vivid imagery. T r a n s p o r t a t i o n       Accessible via Bus Routes 3 and 6.
