Unlike other parks, the best time to visit Keep River National Park is during the dry season, as roads can become flooded and muddy during the wet season. The park features several walking trails, with the highlight being the Aboriginal rock art sites in the Keep River Gorge, which include over 2,500 paintings—truly a testament to the ingenuity and artistic skill of Indigenous people. The park’s unique sandstone formations are fascinating to explore and make for excellent photography spots. There is also a lagoon in the park that serves as a habitat for numerous bird species, making it a great place for birdwatching.
