The Dazhai Ethnic and Folk Culture Reserve in Weipang Township is situated in the northwest of Ceheng County, about 50 kilometers from the county seat. It belongs to Weipang Township of Ceheng County, with an average elevation of 1,000 meters and an average temperature of 14–16°C. It is a typical karst region in the county. The reserve area covers three villages — Weipang, Jiangjian, and Dazhai — with 1,126 households and a population of 4,560, spanning a total area of 30 square kilometers. The reserve is home to the Buyi, Miao, and Han ethnic groups, among which the Buyi people make up 95% of the population. The area enjoys above-average education levels within the county. In 2001, the per capita grain consumption was 350 kilograms, and the per capita net income was 1,320 yuan, with farming and animal husbandry as the main sources of income.
