Ancient Cultural Site of Niuwang Temple
The Ancient Cultural Site of Niuwang Temple is situated 13 kilometers northeast of the county town and about 350 meters northwest of Houzhanglou Village. It was originally an elevated terrace, which was later flattened. A temple dedicated to the Ox King was built here but was demolished during the "Cultural Revolution." The site measures 60 meters from north to south and 45 meters from east to west, covering an area of 2,700 square meters. The cultural stratum is 2.4 meters thick and lies 3 meters beneath the surface. Due to multiple deep plowings, numerous pottery shards have been exposed at the site, including fragments from the Shang Dynasty and the Han Dynasty. Additionally, two intact artifacts have been discovered: a Warring States period earthenware jar and a gray pottery jar from the Han Dynasty.
