Lehua Night Market emerged in the 1970s. Originally, there was a “Lehua Theater” (now rebuilt as Cashbox KTV) next to its entrance, from which the night market got its name. Initially, the night market was limited to Yongping Road, from the intersection with Yonghe Road to the intersection with the first section of Baofu Road, then turning onto the beginning of the first section of Baofu Road, roughly forming an L-shape. In the 1980s, it gradually extended westward along Yongping Road to the entrance of Baoping Road Lane 18. By the end of 1998, after the opening of Taipei Metro’s Orange Line (Zhonghe Line), its proximity to Dingxi Station spurred rapid development, leading to an extension to Zhongshan Road and forming its current scale.
During the day, Lehua Night Market is just a small vegetable market, but come dusk, numerous vendors and crowds flock in. The wide array of goods on offer and the enticing aromas of all kinds of street food fill the streets, attracting countless visitors.
