Tang Shengsheng Pass

Tang Shengsheng Pass
One of the seven passes of Yuanzhou in the Tang Dynasty, formerly known as Dazhen Pass or Dazhen Gate. It is located 1.9 kilometers west of Jingyuan County, on the north bank of the Xiangshui River, with the Longde–Jingyuan highway passing through. It is now part of Yongfeng Village (also called Guanzhuang) in Xiangshui Town, Jingyuan County. The site is square-shaped, with each side measuring 500 meters, covering an area of 250,000 square meters. It had east and west gates, with the east gate featuring a barbican measuring 49 meters long and 38 meters wide. The site has since been reclaimed as farmland, with the city walls remaining at about 1 meter in height. The ground is scattered with numerous bricks, tiles, and pottery fragments from the Tang Dynasty, as well as rope-patterned tiles from the Han Dynasty. In recent years, ceramics from the Tang, Song, and Yuan dynasties, as well as copper coins such as “Kaiyuan Tongbao,” have been unearthed here.
