The vast expanse of Plover Cove Country Park boasts rich and diverse flora and fauna. Common wildlife species include porcupines, ferret-badgers, pangolins, leopard cats, and red-bellied tree squirrels. A wide variety of bird species also inhabit the park. According to records, the Large Cuckoo Dove and the Red-winged Crested Cuckoo have been spotted in Ap Chau and Lai Chi Wo within the park area, respectively. Among the park’s most treasured inhabitants are its numerous butterfly species, with many rare and newly discovered butterflies found in this vibrant setting. The park’s geology is equally fascinating, with attractions such as Double Haven, Bride's Pool Waterfall, Drum Rock on Tung Ping Chau, Pak Sha Tau Tsui, Wang Chau, and Lung Lok Shui all well worth a visit.
Plover Cove Country Park offers a range of facilities for visitors. One of the most popular is the Tai Mei Tuk barbecue site, which is easily accessible and located near the main dam of Plover Cove Reservoir. It’s a delightful experience to enjoy a meal and then take in the scenic views from the dam.
