Wufeng Temple, a provincial-level cultural heritage site, is situated on Mount Wufeng in Baidounao Village, Wufeng Township, about 15 kilometers northwest of Weiyuan Town, Huzhu County, and 45 kilometers from the provincial capital, Xining. The mountain is named Wufeng (Five Peaks) because its five peaks stand like the fingers of a hand. The temple located on the mountain is thus called Wufeng Temple. It was first built in the 15th year of the Chongzhen era of the Ming Dynasty, which corresponds to 1642 AD. As a Taoist temple, it features classical Chinese architectural style. By the Qing Dynasty, it had already been recognized as one of the “Eight Scenic Spots of Huangzhong.” Today, it remains a renowned tourist destination in Qinghai Province and is one of the five major scenic areas within the 4A-level Tuzu Homeland Park in Huzhu County.

The current structures of Wufeng Temple were built successively after 1978, including the Bodhisattva Hall, Wuliang Temple, Bagua Pavilion, Jade Emperor Temple, Sanqing Palace, Black Tiger Cave, Chenghua Spring West Archway, Hexagonal Pavilion, and Xianggong Tower. On May 27, 1986, it was designated as a provincial-level cultural heritage site. Wufeng Temple is surrounded by verdant peaks shrouded in mist and clouds, with murmuring springs and exceptionally beautiful scenery. The mountain springs flow continuously throughout the year, crystal clear and azure blue like jade. In summer, the area bursts into vibrant blooms. Every year on the sixth day of the sixth lunar month, Wufeng Temple hosts a traditional mountain worship fair, where people of the Tu, Han, Tibetan, and Hui ethnicities gather to sing songs on the mountain. On this day, visitors dressed in festive attire come from all directions to sightsee and participate in singing competitions. From morning till evening, tourists and worshippers continue to arrive in an endless stream. It has become a popular summer retreat and hiking destination.

Wufeng Temple is a provincial-level key cultural heritage site.
