The drum tower is situated at the center of the cross street in Weiyuan Town, Huzhu County. Constructed in the fourth year of the Tianqi era of the Ming Dynasty (1624 AD), it has three levels and is a wooden structure with ethnic architectural style. The entire building is tall and majestic, featuring upturned eaves, painted beams, and carved rafters. Wind chimes hang from its four corners, while glazed mythical beasts adorn its roof ridges, creating a spectacular sight. It has now become an ancient symbol of Huzhu County.
In 1989, the drum tower underwent comprehensive renovation, repainting, and oiling, standing in the land of the Tu people with a brand-new look. Its area has expanded more than 20 times compared to the pre-liberation period, showcasing the outstanding architectural wisdom of the Tu people.
