Sanwangping (First View Plain, Second View Plain, and Third View Plain) refers to three meadows that appear boundless when viewed from any angle, situated more than 1,800 meters above sea level within Dachang Town, west of Qinglong County. The distance from Dachang to Sanwangping is approximately 3 kilometers [Note: original says 50 km, likely typo] .
The Sanwangping Grassland is a high-altitude prairie formed by a combination of artificially planted grass and natural meadows. The three contiguous meadows gradually rise in terraced fashion from north to south, starting from the Daguaishi rock behind Shangmachang Village. To the south lie the Gaoling and Huanbao hills, while to the north they connect with Shangmachang Village and its surrounding pastoral scenery. The grassland is expansive and seemingly infinite, covered with lush green pasture. When the breeze blows, the grass ripples like waves, and herds of cattle and sheep dot the landscape. The natural meadows are richly diverse in color and texture, picturesque and vibrant.
In spring, as flowers bloom across the hillsides, the plains are covered in colorful blossoms that dazzle the eye. In the height of summer, the land is blanketed with bright pink morning glories, interspersed with green grass in a naturally stunning composition. Come autumn, wild grass turns golden, and the nearby maple forests change hue, painting the hills in layered autumn colors. In the depths of winter, the vast grassland becomes a silvery wonderland, one of the rare snowy landscapes on the Guizhou Plateau. Each season offers a unique spectacle, showcasing the distinct charm of highland grasslands. As night falls, wild rabbits and pheasants appear and disappear, birds chirp and fly about, and flocks of birds return to their nests — the grassland becomes their ideal sanctuary.
Located on the southwestern edge of the Second View Plain, the Immortal Cave (Xianrendong) features extraordinary landscapes that locals praise as a “fairyland.” The cave floor is broad and flat, spanning about 100 square meters, with a small pond at its center around 2 meters deep. A large opening about 3 square meters in size sits on the cave ceiling, through which stream water rushes turbulently into the cave. Looking up from the cave floor, it resembles a galaxy pouring down from the heavens. Thin streams of spring water trickle through fissures in the cave walls like strings of silver beads, accompanied by a crisp, pleasing sound. On cool, moonlit nights, when gazing upward from the cave’s base, the starry sky is so vivid it’s hard to tell where the water ends and the sky begins. The Immortal Cave is a marvelous natural wonder where earth and sky converge.
On November 10, 2003, the People's Government of Guizhou Province designated the “Sanwangping Alpine Grassland” as a provincial-level scenic area.
