Abraham Lake
Abraham Lake is an artificial lake on the North Saskatchewan River in western Alberta, Canada, covering an area of approximately 53.7 square kilometers and stretching about 32 kilometers in length. It was created upstream of the North Saskatchewan River at the foot of the Canadian Rockies.

Formed in 1972, the most magical phenomenon at Abraham Lake occurs during the cold winter months. Each winter, large pockets of frozen bubbles accumulate beneath the lake’s surface. This happens due to methane gas released by plants on the lake bed combined with the frigid temperatures above. As methane rises and the lake surface freezes, the bubbles become trapped in the ice, creating a rare and breathtaking sight that attracts visitors from around the world during the winter season.
