Neidong Forest Recreation Area
Neidong Forest Recreation Area is situated in Xinxian Village, Wulai District, New Taipei City, Taiwan, spanning around 1,191 hectares with an elevation of approximately 230 to 800 meters. It represents the low-altitude stream canyon ecological environment of northern Taiwan. Legend has it that during the transition between spring and summer, the area was filled with the sounds of frogs, which led to its former name “Wawagu” (娃娃谷), derived from the onomatopoeic sound “wa-wa.” The area boasts beautiful scenery, well-preserved natural ecology, and rich flora and fauna.

Neidong Forest Recreation Area features a variety of landscapes, including forests, waterfalls, pools, and streams, all exuding a wild charm of nature. Among these, the Wawagu Waterfall (also known as Xinxian Waterfall) is particularly attractive to visitors. Due to its unique terrain, the waterfall forms a three-tiered, ever-changing cascade with a powerful flow—its roaring waters can be heard from afar. However, due to the cold and deep water, swimming is prohibited.

Not only does it offer stunning natural beauty, but Neidong Forest Recreation Area also provides well-developed facilities for sightseeing and rest. Based on the natural environment, the area has planned amenities such as rest pavilions, waterfall-viewing bridges, hiking trails, and picnic areas, making it very convenient for visitors.
