According to longtime residents of Taipa, the brick house currently located on the lowest flat ground was actually a toilet built by the seaside. Back then, fish could often be seen swimming in the water below, but it has since lost its function due to land reclamation. The nearby Chapel of St. Francis Xavier and its square also feature strong Portuguese architectural styles and are popular spots for local weddings and tourist photos. This park is directly adjacent to the Taipa Houses–Museum and, during the height of summer, visitors standing at the highest point can enjoy the sight of lotus flowers swaying in the wind across the entire lotus pond—an absolutely delightful view.
