Yaping Trail

This is an ancient post road that runs from Jibu in Fugong County to Qiumei Jiangjiming in Myanmar. It was established as early as the Qing Dynasty and remains one of the main trade routes between China and Myanmar. In August 1942, over 1,700 members of the Fifth Army headquarters of the Chinese Expeditionary Force retreated along this route. The road is now open to vehicles, and occasionally trucks transporting timber from Myanmar can still be seen.

Walking along the Yaping Trail offers breathtaking views at every turn. Along the way, dense forests block out the sun, towering ancient trees, wildflowers carpet the ground, birds sing incessantly, and strange peaks and peculiar rocks abound. Waterfalls and flowing springs appear one after another, making you feel as if “you are walking in the mountains, yet wandering through a painting.” The fresh air, melodious birdsongs, and enchanting mountain scenery cut off the noise of the outside world — all that remains is endless tranquility and stunning landscapes. This is a poetic retreat in the hearts of modern people.
