Lingbao Gorge Scenic Area

The Lingbao Gorge Scenic Area is situated in Shi Yao Village, Xiangquan Town, Chencang District, about 65 kilometers from downtown Baoji. Key scenic spots include Cliff Stone, One-Line Sky, Water-Eroded Cliff, Yangshui Pool, Sword-Testing Stone, Minglei Mountain, Daughter Slope, Taishi Kiln, Baiyin Temple, and Dragon King Temple, covering a total area of 10 square kilometers. The gorge itself is composed of red continental sedimentary sandstone, resembling a towering heavenly gate that looms majestically and dominates the sky, evoking images of columns reaching to the heavens and engulfing the sun and moon—truly a spectacular and rare sight in Shaanxi. In ancient times, it was one of the Eight Scenic Views of Longzhou and served as a strategic transportation throat along the Huizhong Ancient Road, which connected eastern Longdong to central Shaanxi. Many historical battles took place here, leaving a significant mark on history. The water-eroded landforms within the Lingbao Gorge are remarkably shaped by nature, as if carved by knives and axes. Standing inside the gorge, visitors are greeted by a narrow opening of sky, presenting an environment of both extraordinary natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. With a cool and moist climate, the area is an ideal destination for tourism, sightseeing, exploration, summer retreats, and educational trips. In 1988, during the city’s selection of tourist attractions, it ranked fourth and was featured in the "Baoji Scenery" wall calendar for promotional purposes. The scenic area also includes farm stays, attracting a steady stream of visitors for leisure and sightseeing year-round.
