Thousand-Mu Terraces in Xiaozhou Mountain
Xiaozhou Mountain features breathtaking landscapes. The diligent and ingenious ancestors of Xiaozhou Township carved out more than 4,000 mu of terraces, which span over 500 levels from the mountain base to its peak. Built along the mountain’s contours, these terraces are grand in scale and awe-inspiring in presence, making them one of the best-preserved terrace systems in southern Zhejiang. In early spring, rapeseed flowers bloom vibrantly across the hills; in the gentle early summer, the terrace pools mirror the fresh pastoral scenery; in the crisp autumn, golden rice ears and colorful rice fish bring the joy of harvest; in the chilly early winter, snow-covered terraces take on graceful beauty; on rainy days, mist swirls delicately above; on clear days, you can gaze far into the distance and admire their majestic presence. No matter when you come or where you stand, what greets your eyes is a natural oil painting.
